2012 TEEN MASTERS RULES
Scratch. The Teen Masters (TM) is a scratch event.

Singles Divisions. The 2012 TM offers competition for boys and girls in two (2) age divisions:
  • 18 & Under (18U): Was born after December 31, 1993.
  • 14 & Under (14U): Was born after December 31, 1997.

Students born after Dec 31, 1992 who are in their fourth (4th) year of high school are eligible to compete in the 2012 Teen Masters. Bowlers born after Dec 31, 1997 may elect to bowl in the 18U division.

Regional Competition. TM regional qualifying competition consist of eight (8) games bowled on a PBA pattern. Each location will offer one or two squads of qualifying competition. For locations with two squads, either held on the same day or on different days, advancement to nationals will be determined by overall scores.

Lane Courtesy. The Teen Masters employs the PBA's policy of one (1) pair lane courtesy at all times, referred to as the “Double Jump” rule. A “Double Jump” occurs when, following another player’s delivery on your pair, you step onto the approach before one (1) competitor on the pair to your left and one (1) competitor on the pair to the right have thrown a shot.

Multiple Entry. Bowlers may only enter one squad at a given location, but may enter multiple locations.

Roll Call. Bowlers should plan to arrive at the center and be prepared to bowl no later than 45 minutes prior to the scheduled squad time.

Regional Dress Code. Regional participants are required to comply with the following dress code:
  • Slacks must be worn in competition and the length must extend to the top of the shoe. Denim type jeans, drawstring or parachute pants may NOT be worn during competition.
  • Collared polo or mock neck shirts may be worn, but T-shirts may NOT be worn during competition.
  • Regional competitors are encouraged, but not required, to wear black slacks, a High 5 Gear bowling shirt with their name on the back, and Dexter bowling shoes.
  • Bowlers in violation of the dress code will not be allowed to compete until in compliance and will receive zero for all frames missed as a result of the violation.

Regional Registration Fees. Early, online registration is strongly encouraged. The 2012 fees are:
  • Online, prior to Early Bee Deadline – $99, which includes $39 in expenses and $60 in awards.
  • Online, after Early Bee Deadline – $110, which includes $11 for late processing.
  • Offline, at host bowling center – $120 in cash, which includes a $10 fee for offline registration.

Regional Awards. Each regional qualifying events will generate the following awards:
  • Plaques: The top boy and girl, regardless of division, will receive a TM Regional Champion's plaque.
  • Top bowlers will receive a credit toward the national registration fee based on the number of bowlers their division. A graph displaying the credits can be seen here.
  • Division Leaders: The division winners of each regional will compete for a special pool of scholarship awards at the national finals funded by $10 from each regional entry.

Advancement. The national finals has a capacity of 480 competitors, and invitations will be extended to generate a finals field of:
  • 18 & Under Boys: 240 competitors
  • 18 & Under Girls: 120 competitors
  • 14 & Under Boys: 80 competitors
  • 14 & Under Girls: 40 competitors
Until further notice, all bowlers who compete in a qualifying event will be extended an invitation to compete in the national finals.

Additional National Finalists. KBP reserves the right to extend invitations to eligible members of the following groups based on space availability:
  • Members of the 2012 Dexter All-American High School Team.
  • Representatives from Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
  • 2011 Teen Masters Championship Finalists.
  • Entrants in the TM Last Chance qualifying tournament.
National Scholarship Awards. College scholarships will be awarded in each division at the national finals on a 1:5 ratio.

National Registration Fees. Advance, online registration is required. The 2012 fees are:
  • Prior to Early Bee Deadline of May 25 – $250, which includes $125 in national scholarship awards and $125 for center rental and tournament expenses.
  • After Early Bee Deadline of May 25 – $300, which includes a $50 late processing fee.

National Finals Equipment Package. To level the playing field and place the emphasis on bowler performance, all national finalists will be limited to three bowling balls as follows:
  • One Ebonite Pursuit OR Pursuit-S
  • One Ebonite Black, Gold and Silver Cyclone (other Cyclone's will NOT be allowed)
  • One plastic spare ball of the bowler's choice.
  • Each finalist is required to purchase a TM Equipment Package which includes the exclusive bowling balls and shirts for the National Finals and Grand Championships. The package is available in the TM ProShop and costs $250 until May 25th. Discounted packages are available for those who already own an Ebonite Pursuit and/or Black, Gold & Silver Cyclone.
Mandatory Teen Masters Hotel Packages. KBP has partnered with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission to offer TM finalists affordable hotel packages for the 2012 Teen Masters. Finalists will be required to either purchase one of these packages through the TeenMastersBowling.com ProShip or pay a $50 "opt out" fee to be eligible to compete.

The opt out fee for students who live in the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga and Erie counties has been paid through our partnership with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.

Refunds. To cover the expenses incurred when issuing refunds, a 10% fee will be charged on all refunds.

Closing Date. Entries for the Last Chance qualifying tournament close on May 25, 2012.

Championship Finals Dress Code. Championship finalists are required to wear black slacks and official 2012 TM shirts and will be restricted from wearing logos or other sponsor identification other than that provided by TM sponsors. Bowlers in violation of the dress code will not be allowed to compete until in compliance and will receive zero for all frames missed as a result of the violation.

Publicity Release. By entering the TM, the bowler acknowledges KBP's right to make use of and to permit others to make use of bowler's name, voice, pictures, photographs and other likeness for any purpose in any manner related to the advertising, broadcast, publication or promotion of TM.

Disclaimers. Parents and students should be aware that that participation in this or other bowling competitions, certified or uncertified, and/or the acceptance of any scholarship dollars could possibly affect eligibility based upon the state interscholastic association rules of the state in which a given student resides. Each family is strongly encouraged to confer with their school's athletic director or a staff member of their state's interscholastic association before participating in the TM or other bowling competition.

Female participants should also be aware that NCAA guidelines have at times restricted the acceptance of scholarship funds from sources outside of the college/university being attended by athletes competing in NCAA competition.

Although Killer ‘B’ Promotions is promoting PBA pro-ams, the PBA and Killer ‘B’ Promotions are independent parties. Killer ‘B’ Promotions is in no way liable for any claim, demand, action or proceeding arising out of or in connection with any PBA pro-am. Any claim, demand, action or proceeding related to a PBA pro-am in any manner whatsoever must be brought solely against the PBA.

Although the PBA may organize and conduct certain Teem Masters qualifying events on behalf of Killer ‘B’ Promotions, the PBA and Killer ‘B’ Promotions are independent parties. PBA is in no way liable for any claim, demand, action or proceeding arising out of or in connection with any Teen Masters qualifying event or any other Killer ‘B’ Promotions event including, but not limited to, the payment of any scholarship funds. Any claim, demand, action or proceeding related to the Teen Masters or any other Killer ‘B’ Promotions event in any manner whatsoever must be brought solely against Killer ‘B’ Promotions.

Ownership. The TM is owned by Killer 'B' Promotions (KBP). KBP reserves the right to determine any matters not covered in these rules.
